The Ministry Training Scheme (MTS) is an opportunity for Christians keen to play a vital part in building God’s kingdom to serve God in a vibrant city-centre church, establish firm foundations for gospel ministry and explore their calling. Through training, mentoring and stretching ministry experience, this full-time, one-year programme aims to help ministry trainees deepen their understanding of the Bible, develop their ministry skills and become more Christlike in character. As a church, All Souls invests strongly in our ministry trainees because we are committed to doing our part in raising up a new generation of faithful Christian leaders.

Scheme Overview

There are four main components to the scheme:

Study

Weekly training days focused on Bible handling, theology and Christian ministry. Ministry Trainees also commit to weekly reading and prep.

Ministry Experience

Growth in gospel ministry through hands-on experience within one or two All Souls ministries.

Mentored Supervision

Ministry guidance and feedback from experienced staff, who will also mentor Ministry Trainees in their discipleship.

Practical Service

Practicing humility and love through setting up, cleaning and other such chores in church.

Apply to the Scheme

The programme runs from 1 September to mid July every year.

Applications for 2026/27 are now closed. We will open applications for 2027/28 in December 2026.

Applicants should already be actively involved in Christian service and have shown gifts for ministry and leadership potential. They should be committed to sitting under the authority of God’s word and be servant hearted, reliable and growing in spiritual maturity. You can find more details in the booklet.

Please note that this is a self-funded role and you will need to raise personal support for your own accommodation and living costs, with some help from All Souls.

Church Assistants

You may also like to consider the Church Assistants programme. Unlike the ministry training scheme, the Church Assistant role is a salaried job, with the majority of their time focused on assisting the many events All Souls runs throughout the year. Applications for 2026/27 will open in February 2026 and will appear on our vacancies page.
