10 Things That We Believe...

  • That Almighty God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – is constantly and graciously at work throughout his creation, sustaining, providing, revealing Himself to us, redeeming His people, and ultimately in the final judgement at the end of time.
  • That the Bible (Old & New Testament) is the inspired Word of God, and as such, it is entirely trustworthy and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • That because God has created us and this world, He has the right to tell us how he wants us to live, and the right to be obeyed.
  • That all of us have rebelled against God by not living as He wants us to.  In the Church we call this ‘Sin’, and it results in our being guilty in the eyes of God, subject to his anger, and standing condemned before Him.
  • That Jesus, as the incarnate Son of God, took our sin to Himself, and also the judgement of God for that sin, substituting Himself in our place in His death on the cross.  In the same way that Jesus takes the consequences of our life, we are presented with the opportunity to take the consequences of his life.  His life was lived in perfect obedience to God, and so the consequence of that life is acceptance by God.
  • That all God has done for us in saving us is driven solely by his grace, and as it is a free gift, there is nothing we can contribute to it through our own efforts.
  • That the work of Jesus throughout his life, death, resurrection, and ascension is the only place where the problem of our rebellion against God is dealt with, and where we can find forgiveness and eternal life.
  • That we need the Holy Spirit to give us a true understanding of who God is, and what God has done.  It is through the Holy Spirit that God regenerates us, dwells within us, and works to make us the kind of people who are able to live as God wants us to.
  • That everyone who has taken advantage of the ministry and work of Jesus Christ is a Christian, and so is a member of the world-wide Church.  The Church is the body of Christ, and is called to proclaim the message of salvation throughout the world.
  • That Jesus will return, visibly and personally, and in full power and glory.

As part of the mission of the Anglican Church in the parish of All Souls, Langham Place, the All Souls Clubhouse seeks to remain faithful to the evangelical heritage of All Souls, within the context of the Anglican Communion.  We bear witness to the Christian faith, and doctrine as articulated in the historic formularies of the Church of England, the Thirty-nine Articles, and the Book of Common Prayer.
