Springboard is led by Wanyeki Mahiani, Charmaine Muir and assisted by an experienced team of table leaders.
All the tracks (apart from the discipleship track) are mainly based in Ephesians. For example, the entire 'Bible Handling Skills Track' and the 'Living out our faith Tracks' are based on Ephesians. However, as not all the doctrinal issues we want to cover are dealt with in Ephesians, a number of talks do take in material from other Bible books in order to present a rounded study. Whenever it is necessary to do so, effort is made to draw examples from Ephesians.
By the end of the course, the participants should feel confident that they know how to handle one Bible genre (letter) and have good grounding in the Doctrinal and Integrity issues in Ephesians.
The Discipleship Track draws material from all over the Bible giving the course participants an opportunity to sample a little bit of systematic theology.
1. Exegesis - Handling the Bible faithfully
Focusing the New Testament Letters, and particularly on Paul's letter to the Ephesians, this unit will equip you to handle the Bible with care and conviction, and thus open up your Bible reading in challenging and exciting new ways.
2. Doctrine - Understanding Christian Beliefs
What do you believe? And more to the point, why? This unit will help you to gain some understanding of the most important elements of a Biblical faith. It will also tackle how to handle areas of belief in which Christians can differ without compromising Truth.
3. Integrity - Living out our faith
It is all too easy for a gulf between knowledge and lifestyle to grow, and that would be a particular danger on a year-long course like this, were it not for this unit. In this part, we will seek to bridge that gap by identifying blind spots and challenges, and then by providing practical help for developing good habits and integrity.
4. Discipleship - Growing Others in the Faith
The Christian life is a journey of fellow-travellers - and one of the key ways in which we can help one another is by sharing what we have learned. This unit will help participants to mentor and disciple others. They will also gain confidence in designing a basic discipleship course as well as taking someone through the course.
