Vision - GROWING FOLLOWERS OF JESUS!
We want to help children come to know Christ and grow in knowing him so they can live as God's children in the world and persevere as Christians into adulthood! We do this by teaching the Bible to them and building good relationships with them. C Zone leaders play a part here but we want to support the parents in their vital role as the primary disciplers of their own children.
C Zone programme
For each school term there is a C Zone programme available on this website or as hard copy from the Welcome and Information Desks. There are also Families Lunches, Weekends Away, Outings and All Age Services, which are all part of the programme.
C Zone groups
Each Sunday the children start in church at the 9:30am service, with their families, until they are instructed to leave for their groups after the "Family Focus slot" and children's song. The children are divided into 3 age groups. They should remain in the same group for the duration of 1 year after which they will be moved up into the next group, as they do at school (from September to July). All parents should fill in a Registration Form with their contact details as well as any allergies their children may have.
There are volunteer leaders placed in charge of each group, under the leadership of the Children’s and Families Worker, Brenda Beckett.
Scramblers (2 to 4 year olds) - Nursery
Scramblers meet every Sunday during the 9:30am service in the Dining Room, where they play, sing some simple action Bible songs, pray, are taught a Bible story, and do a relevant activity or craft together.
Parents should collect a "name ticket" when dropping their child off and return it when collecting their child after the service.
When there is an All Age Service parents have the option of taking their children to the service or looking after them in the Waldegrave Hall, where the service is relayed onto a screen and there are toys set out for the children to play with.
Heather Schaessens-Coleman and Jillian Quah lead this group.
Climbers (4 to 7 year olds) - Reception, Year 1, Year 2
Climbers meet during the school term in the Langham Room during the 9:30am service. They are led in singing and praying, taught a Bible story and break into 3 smaller groups for their lesson and craft activity.
The 4 year olds (Reception) remain in the Langham Room, where they can be collected from after the service.
The 5 year olds (school year 1) move to the upstairs Meeting Room, where they can be collected from after the service.
The 6 year olds (school year 2) also move upstairs, but to the Lounge, where they can be collected from after the service.
Clare Trevor and Sharika Fernando lead the Climbers Group.
Explorers (7 to 11 year olds) – Years 3 to 6
Explorers meet during the 9:30am service in the Waldegrave Hall, where they are led by a team in singing, praying, teaching and small group lessons and activiites. The children remain here and should be met by their parents in the Waldegrave Hall immediately after the service. Parents of these children particularly should leave the main service during the final hymn to fetch their children before the rest of the congregation flood into the Hall for tea and coffee.
Laurence Lee and Jane Jellis lead the Explorer Group.
