There are about 40 volunteers who make up the C Zone team. C Zone leaders take on a great responsibility in this ministry of teaching children the Bible and building relationships with them, which is a real privilege and joy.
Requirements
C Zone leaders should be committed Christian members of the All Souls Church family, who are willing to devote themselves to ministry amongst the children and families for at least 1 academic year. They should be regular at Sunday services and involved in a small group within the church. They are all required to undergo an official Child Protection check (CRB). They should be willing to receive training and be supervised by the Children’s and Families Worker, Brenda Beckett.
Training
Leaders must attend training at the start of each term as well as a meeting for their particular group at the end of the term. These usually take place on a Sunday afternoon and include lunch.
Responsibilities
C Zone leaders are part of a team and should be committed to the C Zone team. During the term we meet at 9am in the Waldegrave Hall to set up for C Zone, have coffee and pastries, a short meeting and to pray together. Some leaders will give talks to their group from the Bible, while all C Zone leaders are involved in leading a small group of children for the year. There are at least 2 leaders per small group. The material for C Zone from which leaders can prepare their lessons is given out at the start of the term. Leaders should make every effort to build relationships and care for the children in their groups as well as getting to know their parents and families.
C Zone leaders also attend Families Lunches, All Age Services and outings organised for C Zone. These are vital opportunities to build friendships with the children and their families.
Most of the C Zone team have school holiday Sundays off, during which they can enjoy a break from C Zone. But leaders are at all other C Zone Sundays – there are about 10 or 12 per term.
Joining the team
If you are interested in joining the C Zone team, please fill in a Leader Registration form which is available from the Children’s and Families Worker, Brenda Beckett, and returned to her. She will be in contact with you to arrange a meeting.
