SWOT is the main midweek meeting for students at All Souls. It's held at St Paul's, Robert Adam Street at 7pm on Wednesday nights. The emphasis is on growing in relationship with God and with each other. We don't just look at what the Bible says - we try to understand what it really means and how we can put it into practise in our lives. SWOT starts with a time of worship led by students and a short talk by one of the team. We then eat dinner together (£2), before digging into the Bible in our small groups. The evening wraps up by 9:30pm.
There are three years worth of Bible study material at SWOT. Come for all three years and you'll leave with a very solid grasp of the Bible. Each year builds on the one before, so we encourage everyone to start with SWOT 1.
... Every Wednesday during term time... (dates on the church home page)
Just come along, no need to book
SWOT 1
The Bible’s Big Picture (autumn term), Ephesians (spring term), Sermon on the Mount (summer term)
SWOT 2
Romans, studied in depth over the course of the year.
SWOT 3
Students take more responsibility for the Bible teaching in SWOT 3. They take it in turns to prepare and lead the Bible Study, receiving help with their prep - and feedback afterwards - from one of the group leaders. The aim is for group members to learn good Bible handling skills and how to write and lead a Bible study. There is the opportunity to study a mixture of Old and New Testament texts.
What people say about SWOT
"The thing I loved best about SWOT was the chance to study the Bible in depth and begin to understand how it all points to Jesus. I also formed really good friendships, which have helped me a lot in my Christian life."
Caroline Speers, Dietetics student, Kings College 2003-2007
