Charmaine joined the staff team at All Souls in September 2006 as the Workplace Ministry Worker, after two years as an apprentice on the team. “My desire is to see people connecting their faith and work and being equipped to live for Christ in every part of their life”.
Born in the UK and brought up in New Zealand and Sri Lanka, she became a Christian at the age of 10: “It was then that I realised that there was more to being a Christian then just going to church – that there was a relationship I could have with Jesus. In the years since then I’ve learnt just how much in need of a Saviour I was and am.”
After being home-schooled in Sri Lanka, Charmaine returned to New Zealand to do a BA in History and Classics. Then went on to work for 3 years with a New Zealand government department in Welllington, as an analyst, after a 3 month stint as a private tutor in Nepal, before heading back to the land of her birth for a working holiday. The two years turned into 6 years and counting. Before becoming an apprentice she worked at Marks and Spencers as a trainer in the Bakery Department. This involved training store staff in operating In Store Bakeries, trying to look knowledgeable about the quality of bread and finding out far too much about food safety and hygiene.
For relaxation she enjoys reading, photography, spending time with friends and cooking.
