Heewoo joined the All Souls staff team in October 2007 as the International Student Worker. He has had an itinerant life. Born in Sangjoo, Korea, he has since moved to Seoul, Busan, Arlington, VA., Chicago, Honduras, New Haven and now London!
Being a 'PK' - or a preacher's kid - he was raised in a Christian family and has steadily grown into a person who loves Christ and tries to follow Him. He studied theology both at Wheaton College, IL, and Yale Divinity School.
On graduating from Wheaton, he worked as a lay pastor/teacher in Tela, Honduras for two years. He then went to New Haven and served as the College Ministry Director for the United Church of Westville for eighteen months. He also worked as an intern at Yale/New Haven hospital as a student chaplain and at St John's Episcopal Church.
Among many of the experiences that shaped him to follow Christ, most significant was the moment when he realized that God loved him unconditionally. It happened relatively simply. His father, who is also a minister, laid hands on him and told him that God loved him. Those words touched every part of his being, and he feels called to tell others about this amazing love.
He is excited to be at All Souls with the opportunity the church offers him to tell people from all over the world about Jesus Christ. He hopes that the international student ministry will do its part in making All Souls a training centre for world missions.
Heewoo enjoys watching movies, reading and writing. "A good day for me would include a particularly interesting conversation with friends about God ...... and a road-win for the Redskins (NFL)."
