Wanyeki Mahiaini

Wanyeki Mahiaini joined the All Souls staff team on 1st March 2009 as Associate Minister, Discipleship and Training.  He was born and raised in Kenya.  His father is a retired Anglican bishop and his mother is a retired teacher.  He comes from a family of seven.  As a young Christian in High School, Wanyeki struggled with the exclusive Truth claims of the Bible.  "I wanted assurance that it held the best answers for life's hard questions especially the problem of inequalities in the world.  I listened to Gottfried Osei Mensah preach in Nairobi Baptist Church and learnt an honest way to read Scripture and through that found answers to a lot of the questions I had.  That the Bible speaks for itself in every age continues to hold great fascination for me."

After taking a degree in teaching at the University of Nairobi, he worked as a high school teacher and headmaster before coming to the UK to do a Masters degree at Warwick.  (His dissertation was in Psycholinguistics.)

Following study in the UK, Wanyeki returned to Kenya to teach at Egerton University until 1994 after which he came back to the UK to join Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship as a staff worker in London.  After his post at UCCF, Wanyeki joined Friends International as Project Coordinator for the Philip Project - a Bible handling and discipleship course taught by lecturers from the Cornhill Training Course for African students in UK universities.

"My hopes and prayers for the post at All Souls is that members of the church will become reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ in the fashion of 2 Tim 2:2 in order to fulfill The Great Commission."

In addition to his responsibilities at All Souls, Wanyeki sits on the Council of All Nations College, and is a member of Langham Preaching team in East Africa. Wanyeki is married to Mary; a teacher of English for speakers of other languages.  They have two children, Mahia and Njoki.  The whole family enjoy the outdoor life.
