Brenda Beckett

Brenda joined the All Souls staff team in 2004 as Children's and Families' Worker.  She was born in Johannesburg in 1976 and grew up in a Christian family in Durban on the East Coast of South Africa. She made a commitment to Christ at a young age and went to church, youth groups and Bible Studies with her parents and 2 younger brothers.

When she finished high school she left home and went to Bible College in Cape Town, with a plan to study teaching after 1 year there. However, as she grew in understanding the Bible and the gospel better, she changed her mind about teaching children in school, and decided to train for teaching children about Jesus from the Bible. She completed a 3 year degree in Theology at George Whitefield College, the theological training college for the Church of England in South Africa, and then worked as a children's worker at St Paul's Church in Stellenbosch for 4 years. Here she was also involved in youth and student work as well as women's ministry.  She lectured 2 courses in childrens' ministry at George Whitefield College, and was involved in regional childrens' events, like camps, training days and rallies.

Brenda came to London in January 2004, with a view to working in a church here and so further her experience in childrens' ministry. She worked as a teacher's assistant in a special needs school for 2 months, before taking up her current post at All Souls. Brenda has a deep desire to see children grow in knowing Jesus from His Word as they mature. She is committed to working hard to teach them faithfully and train others to do the same.

Brenda enjoys playing tennis, watching films, reading and going to concerts or shows. She especially loves the beach and would like to explore the UK and Europe during her time here.
