Jenny Brown

Jenny joined the All Souls staff team in April 2003 as Senior Associate Minister (World Mission and Training).  The youngest of three, Jenny grew up attending her local village church in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex. "It was as a 15 year old that I realised there was a decision to be made. Principally through my sister, Margaret, and a young couple leading the church youth group, that I came to understand that a personal relationship with God was possible".

After school, Jenny took a 'gap' year: 6 months working in nature conservation, 6 months as an au pair in Germany. Then on to Southampton University to read Biology. Having grown spiritually as a student in the Christian Union, it seemed a natural step, after 3 years of teaching Biology at a secondary school in Peterborough, to begin full-time student ministry. Jenny worked with Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship amongst university students in the Midlands for 4 years. She had had a heart for Africa since school days and in 1994 moved to Uganda to work amongst students in Kampala.

Sensing God's call to cross-cultural mission longer-term, Jenny returned for 2 years to study for a BA in Biblical and Cross-Cultural studies at All Nations Christian College. From here Jenny travelled to St Petersburg to work with the Russian Christian student movement. For 5 years she discipled students and trained national staff throughout Russia.

"Being in Central London, God has given us amazing opportunities and resources. I hope that together we can think through what it means to be a church that is truly involved with God in His worldwide work." Jenny chairs the World Mission committee, co-ordinating the support of 40 mission partners who have gone out from All Souls, and encouraging and counselling those in the church who are considering God's call to mission.

As well as enjoying international travel, Jenny likes to get out into the natural environment - hill-walking, canoeing, cycling, photography - and enjoys time relaxing with friends and family, especially being Auntie to 7 "fantastic nieces and nephews"!
