Ministry Training Scheme 2019 - 2020


The Ministry Training Scheme is a one or two year ministry training programme. It combines biblical and theological training with hands-on ministry experience alongside a member of the staff team in a particular sphere of church life. It's particularly designed for those who are growing in Christian maturity and leadership.

TAMAR Chinese Female Outreach Worker


Exciting role in a vibrant and diverse central London church. The opportunity has arisen to join a committed church and staff team.

Key responsibilities of this significant role are to:
  1. To support other members of the Tamar team in their outreach to Chinese sex industry workers
  2. To seek and to build befriending relationships and offer compassionate support to those working there through regular visits and one to one mentoring.
  3. To offer practical support for those wanting to exit trafficking, exploitation and prostitution, gain alternative employment and live a different lifestyle, helping them to connect with statutory services.
Essential experience, skills and knowledge
We are looking for someone who:
  • Is literate in Mandarin, Cantonese and English
  • Is totally committed to the evangelical Christian stance and mission of All Souls Church
  • Has a good personal understanding and experience of cultural issues in mainland China and the background of the Tamar client group
  • Has a good biblical understanding to lead one to one/small group bible studies in Mandarin
  • Is able to pray in Mandarin or Cantonese with client group
  • Is proactive and experienced in engaging with Chinese women working in the sex industry especially in Soho, Chinatown, London
  • Is resilient, with an ability to handle pressurised situations with calm, tact and wisdom
  • Is committed and able to work to the goals and objectives of Tamar
  • Has a servant-hearted focus
  • Is a flexible team player
  • Has experience searching and mapping parlours within Westminster and City of London
  • Is able to support City outreach afternoon team and Soho/Chinatown evening Team
  • Is able to develop personal relationships with the client group and, where appropriate, offer support and practical assistance which includes accompanying people to appointments, accessing local services and help with learning English and one to one bible studies
  • Is able to attend meetings with CCIL (Chinese Church in London) staff members
  • Is able to monitor new massage parlours in Westminster and City of London
  • Is able to work well within the team
  • Is able to communicate effectively
  • Is computer literate

Music Department Senior Music Minister


Dr Noel Tredinnick has been Director of Music for over 45 years and leaves us with a rich legacy of musical excellence and creativity, notably in the life of the All Souls Orchestra.  Our desire is to honour that legacy and to build on it and and develop it. This is an opportunity to recast it for the enjoyment and enrichment of the next generation.

We are expecting the Senior Music Minister, in close consultation with the senior team, to develop their own vision for music (and the arts) which will serve All Souls and the wider church.

Scope of Role is to:

- Lead - a music staff team as well as a range of musicians (orchestral groups and contemporary bands) to deliver high quality music for the All Souls church activities and other events.  Also personally be comfortable leading from the front with considerable skill on a leading instrument, ideally piano or organ..

- Attract and Integrate - recruit new generations of musicians to the church to serve the congregation, growing godly musicians trained as disciples, as well as good musicians trained to play skillfully.  

- Multiply - grow others who can serve and lead at different levels themselves.  Developing the next generation of musicians and song leaders will be an important element in the training ministry.

- Serve and Share. - with a history of serving the wider church, in due course we would want the new Senior Music Minister to  see how our resources can best serve and be used for the wider church and for gospel mission in this day and age.

- Support - as part of leadership of the whole church family, to work closely with the ministry team, to serve in any other additional ways the Rector may require.

Essential qualities - we are looking for someone who:

- is totally committed to the mission and stance of All Souls, teaching and living consistent with its conservative theological beliefs.

- is a servant-hearted leader, with demonstrably significant experience of handling a wide range of pressurised settings.

- is able to demonstrate mature understanding and ability to apply Biblical teaching, particularly of how music serves the church in a multi-generational and multicultural church.

- has proven extensive musical leadership skills for both congregations and instrumentalists across a wide range of classical and contemporary styles

- has a minimum first Degree in Music, preferably higher.

- is able to demonstrate significant achievement in music as performer, conductor, leader, arranger (preferably with first instrument being piano or organ) - ideally with orchestral conducting experience.

Administrative details:

This is a full-time senior position on the All Souls Ministry team.   Appropriate compensation package from £47,681 pa. inclusive of Central London Allowance - will be offered based around the skills, experience and circumstances of the preferred candidate.
